Do you need to know how to survive holiday parties?
Do you have a love/hate relationship with them?
Like, you love to connect and celebrate with family and friends, but hate how the events can also be exhausting, stressful, and really put your emotional eating to the test?
Social situations can make you feel judged and pressured by friends and family members to eat a certain way, while parties strain your willpower with all the tempting foods, or just because it takes so much concentration to be social that there’s no willpower or focus left.
…Leading to plates piled high, overstuffed tummies, and a lot of guilt and regret in the morning.
Stuffed like a turkey
Ok, true story… I did my first Whole 30 in November a few years ago. I was about 2 weeks into the ‘reintroduction phase’ of the program – which is where you reintroduce off-plan foods slowly and in a certain order to understand how they make you feel. My office Christmas party came around and I actually cooked my own whole-30 compliant version of pizza to take and eat (it was a pizza party) so I could stay on my re-intro plan.
Well, that didn’t happen. It didn’t happen in a BIG way. I ate a ton of food I hadn’t had anywhere near my mouth in over 6 weeks.
I ate until I was way beyond full.
And then I was sick for days.
Constant headaches, indigestion, acid reflux, brain fog – it was awful.
I vowed to never have another party like that again. And I haven’t. That was 3 years ago.
My secret weapons
I have a few secret weapons up my sleeve now – and I’m going to share them all with you.
I’m going to cover a quick fun one here in, but if you want a really juicy way to breeze through holiday parties and truly put your focus on connecting in a meaningful way with your loved ones, make sure you’re signed up for the webinar this weekend.
I’ll be sharing the exact way I do parties– and I promise, you’ll love it.

The surprise trick to survive holiday parties is
… dum dum duuuummmm….
Not what you were expecting?
Research shows that “playing ‘Tetris’ reduces the strength, frequency and vividness [of] cravings”.
What’s more, they found that playing tetris is more effective than that advice you’ve heard to ‘drink a glass of water and wait 10 minutes’ (who does that even work for, anyway?!).
How does this help you survive holiday parties?
Just download one of the millions of free tertris apps onto your phone (I’d bet the jewel match games work just as well). When you feel those holiday cravings start to set in and your attention drifts away from who you’re talking to and towards the buffet table, excuse yourself just as if you were going to get some food… but sneak into the bathroom.
Fire up your phone and play a few levels of tetris. Shifting your mental patterns and breaking the chain that’s led to it can ‘re-set’ your brain out of the craving.
This is so promising – and a wonderful change from using willpower or force to ‘subdue’ any cravings.
